Wheeler, House GOP file bill of “no confidence” to remove Michael J. Madigan as Speaker of the House

State Representative Keith Wheeler (R-Oswego) joined all 44 members of the House Republican Caucus to sponsor new legislation filed Thursday to remove Michael J. Madigan as Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives. The bill is House Resolution 885.

“As of this moment, four members of the House Democratic Caucus have called on Speaker Madigan to resign immediately, which I did the day the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced the facts of the bribery scheme involving ComEd on July 17,” Representative Wheeler said. “If Speaker Madigan refuses to resign immediately, Governor Pritzker needs to use his constitutional authority to call a special session so the House can take action to remove the Speaker from power on a bipartisan basis.”

Representative Wheeler serves the 50th District, which includes portions of Aurora, Batavia, Geneva, Campton Hills, Elburn, Montgomery, Oswego, Plano, St. Charles, Sugar Grove and Yorkville.
