House adopts resolution to honor late Kendall County Board member Jessie Hafenrichter

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois House of Representatives unanimously adopted a resolution on Tuesday mourning the death of former Kendall County Board member Jessie Hafenrichter, who passed away in late February. The resolution, HR 334, was introduced and sponsored by State Rep. Keith Wheeler (R-Oswego).
“Jessie Hafenrichter truly made a difference for Kendall County,” said Rep. Wheeler. “Having been born in Oklahoma less than 40 years after the legendary Land Rush, Jessie brought that same pioneer spirit to Kendall County as a young woman who blazed her own trail and inspired future generations of women leaders to pursue public service. Jessie’s warmth, humor, and her life’s work will endure in the community and in the many lives she touched over the years.”

Hafenrichter served for over 40 years as a member of the Kendall County Board of Tax Review, the last 25 years as its Chairman. She was elected to the Kendall County Board in 1996 and served as a member until 2012. While on the County Board, she served as the board liaison to the health department for 10 years and as Vice-Chairman of the Kendall County Housing Authority for many years. She also fought for land preservation and for public transportation in Kendall County.
A copy of HR 334 will be presented to Hafenrichter’s family in the near future.
